Day 11 - Lamma Island

Ok so, even THOUGH i postponed this trip so that Jen and Wendy could come after their shanghai trip everyone bailed today so i'm gonna make this sound as awesome as possible to make them feel bad for missing out... haha just kidding.

So Today, I went to Lamma Islands for seafood and one major hike. I'm completely beat so today's post will pretty much be a video slideshow. I dunno how you guys are gonna sit through this one...

So this was taken at the pier from the HK side. Note: the walk from the MTR station - Central to the pier takes forever. well 10 minutes forever.. but much longer than expected.
This was the pier we were at.

Picture of the boat docking at Lamma islands. It took around 30 minutes boat ride so not too bad.

After getting off I noticed this guy rockin Jordan 11s.. now correct me if i'm wrong. but are those freaking space jams? what a waste... this guy must be baller.

Totally wanted to steal this.. but i didnt feel like making a kid cry..

Dunno what this is... Looks like Kabuto. Yup thats a pokemon. I just did that.

Ice cream break. I got creme brulee flavour. Was pretty damn good. Considering how hot it was

There were like a million of these driving around the island. The stupid thing is that each one takes up the entire width of the street, and they seriously do not slow down. Almost got run over like 7 times.
Uh.... interesting brand...

Some pretty awesome tofu pudding. Silky smooth.

So anyways, we apparently landed on one side of Llama island and the plan was to hike to the other side to Sok Kwu Wan. Not too bad... 1 hr 10 minutes right?

Uh... too bad i forgot this island was basically a mountain.. eff

Victory for my dad and aunt climibning that. In hindsight that was maybe 2% of the entire hike..
Even the dogs looked they were drenched in sweat lol.
Yea so... we kinda went the wrong way... shit.

We sidetracked further up the mountain which was a detour from our main destination....
Oh well, we got to see HK's only (surprisingly) wind turbine. Dunno how they don't have more of these considering how many typhoons they get..

The view was just amazing from this hike. Every picture I took was breathtaking and seriously does not do it justice. Just a shot of me and pops.
Ok so this marked about the 20% mark. Made it to a beach. Nothing special. Really.
This place is supposed to be famous for its organic tea and stuff. Meh.. nothing special in my opinion.

I made sure not to pick.... didn't want a fatality... i mean penality done to me.

HK power plant, from lamma islands. I thought it was a cool pic

Ugh.. only 20 minutes in. By now everyone was sweating and tired as heck.
My dad decided to walk ahead of us on the trail. Can you guys spot him?

Took a mini break to take some photos. To give you a guage of how far this damn walk was, the "houses" on the right is the beach that i mentioned just above. So yea... and we were still a LONG ways away from our destination. This was our lovely tour guide Uncle YK. Awesome guy, helped me find a place to live and everything.

Thought i'd leave my mark on the walls of this island. maybe i'll bring my kid back here and see if its still there.
Ugh.. still treking.

Yay after about 1.5 hours of mountain climbing (the downhill was equally tiring) we finally made it.
uh......

So after a long Day... DINNER TIME!

Just a shot of the market and the seafood.
This is what we ordered. Which i'll translate into picture form.
Clams... Omfg the best dish of the night by far.
Shrimp. Pretty awesome. but basic

calamari. This was pretty damn good too. heck everything was good.

Seafood soup.
Scallops buried underneath garlic and vermicelli. They kinda overcooked this a bit.
Pissing shrimp. Pretty good. But i'm still not used to how theres like no meat in these things.
Baby abalone. Was actually not that great but worth trying.

And a dish of sweet and sour pork (dunno why we got that, my dad wanted it) and shrimp "goh" fried rice which was pretty good.
I wasn't quite full, so i got one order of "geoduck". You guys should check out what it looks like uncooked. Kinda looks like a giant......

Poppa Huang obviously content with the food. Holy.... 4 months pregnant.

Ok so side story. I pretty much spent all day looking for bottled vitasoy. I asked every single tiny store and either they didnt sell bottled drinks or only coke and sprite. So FINALLY when i did find a place for this stuff... it was closed. So fail.. I was so tempted to punch through the glass hulk style and grab one.. but I felt bad, so I let it go.

You'll be mine next time..

Aftewards met up with wendy, sean, ben, franky, victor, and wayne. We went to the arcade for a bit where I crushed Ben (yes i did just rag on you in my blog ben) in racing. The series ended up 4-1. HOWEVER, due to the "boost" system for the game we played today, my victories have been deemed void and the counter has been set back to 2-1 (in my favour... obviously LOL). Ben's probably fuming right now..
Weigh in, who do you think's gonna win the racing arcade showdown - best outta 7.

Went to hui lau san after and wendy and wayne are enjoying their desserts WAY too much.

Sean: "WHAT DID I JUST SEE"

Anyways, that was my day, and now i'm dead tired. This post took me like 2 hours to do. But I sacrifice to get you DAILY (yup another stab at ben) updates. haha but i'm just kidding, for those of you who haven't, go check out my boy's blog. Its pretty sick.

Later Days.

Day 10 - Jap Food Day

Ok. So.. this is in connection with yesterday's blog and I dont know why I forgot to mention it, but the golf carts in HK are SOLAR POWERED. Heh its pretty cool. at least... in my mind. W/e heres a picture.

Anyways, on to day 10. Nothing really exciting, woke up a bit later and did routine check up on grandma. She was re-learning to stand and stuff again but she got tired out pretty quickly, so we just let her sleep. After that got my laundry back from the laundramat... (basically pay by the pound for clothes and they wash dry and fold for you). Went back to my dad's hotel and saw fire trucks there... Luckily it wasn't anything to do with the hotel but took some pics anyways.

Then spent an hour at the bank with Pops.... and everything wasn't even done. The lady there kept mixing stuff up and problems of all sorts... Didn't end up eating lunch til 3pm. Thought i was gonna fall over.

But it was worth the wait. We visited Monster Sushi back in Langham Place in Mong Kok. The food was pretty damn good so here are just some pics. Honestly a pretty uneventful day so here are more food pics.

Uni.

Monster Sushi Logo..

Cool Sake Bottle.

Salad.

This thing was awesome. It was seared Toro on rice. Pretty freaking good.

So after that just met up with sean and wayne at TST. Sean went looking for shoes AGAIN... and AGAIN nobody had his/our size - 10.5. I think people have inherently small feet here. Anyways besides me dunking inside the mall....

Nothing else really happened here. Well except for when we were in a store, some lady came up to me randomly and tapped me on the shoulder. She then started speaking mandarin to me - to which I replied with my best mando accent "I don't speak mandarin, i'm very sorry." Then she broke out in pretty much perfect Canto. I was kinda shocked but it turned out she just wanted me to try on something for her husband. I looked around and didn't really see any guys around and then I understood what she meant. Anyways her husband must either be a giant or he has some weird style cuz i'm pretty sure I heard them say it looks "cool" on me... You guys be the judge. I rate myself 2.5 / 10 model right here....

Wayne Sean and I randomly hit up an arcade and dueled it out in basketball. You guys can guess the scores and who got what... 15 points for whoever gets it right first.

Afterwards, met up with my Cousin and his girlfriend for dinner. They took me to this place which has the best Tonkatsu in all of HK and in there opinion all of asia (thats right including Japan). The line was pretty nuts but wow it was pretty worth it. Anyways, pictures can only describe so much so here we go.

Appetizers. From left to right - Potato Salad, Wasabi Octopus, Soft Shell Crab

Then we ordered - Pork Loin, Shrimp/prawn and Oysters
I think this is Pork Fillet. Haze (my cousins' Gf) ordered this.

That was a pretty non-coherent video but i posted it anyways. Despite the fail on filming what the sauce actually looked like, i actually managed to get a pic of the "Sauce making" process.

So in lieu of the crappy video, I will end on this picture with Sean and Ben wearing the exact same shorts they bought together at Girodano yesterday. Match made in heaven. hey guys... i'm just kidding.
